What level of fitness is required?

This is an active trip designed for travelers who enjoy moving their bodies outdoors. You should be comfortable hiking on varied terrain for several hours at a steady pace. The hikes on this journey include well‑established mountain routes which reward effort with expansive views and deep immersion in wild landscapes. No technical climbing experience is required, but a good base level of fitness and comfort with uphill and downhill terrain are important.

How difficult are the hikes?

The daily hikes on this trip range from moderate to moderately challenging. Trail includes sections with elevation changes and uneven surfaces, but they follow well‑used routes that do not require technical gear. Your guide will set a steady, supportive pace, allow frequent breaks, and tailor the day according to group energy. This is not a race — it’s an experience.

What kind of scenery and terrain will we see on the hikes?

Bosnia’s trails offer some of the most rewarding and diverse scenery in the Balkans. On the Diva Grabovica route, you’ll trek through deep canyons and up into high alpine ridges with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. On the Lukomir trail, you’ll traverse highland pastures, ancient shepherd paths, and forested slopes above remote villages. Expect rocky tread, grassy alpine paths, and plenty of opportunities to pause and take in the landscape.

What is the typical group size?

Groups are intentionally small, with a maximum of 8 guests. This allows for a more personal experience, flexible pacing on the trails, and direct attention from your guide throughout the journey.

Is this trip suitable for solo travelers?

Yes. Many guests join on their own and enjoy the social nature of a small group. Accommodations are based on double occupancy, and a single supplement is available upon request.

What kind of accommodations can I expect?

Accommodations are carefully selected boutique hotels and guesthouses that reflect the character of the regions we visit. You’ll have welcoming places to rest after active days on the trails, enjoy local meals, and connect with your fellow travelers.

Are meals included?

Daily breakfasts are included, along with most lunches and dinners. Meals focus on traditional Bosnian fare made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Some dinners are left open to allow for personal choice and exploration.

What about dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate most common dietary needs with advance notice. Please let us know of any allergies or special requirements at the time of booking.

Who leads the trip?

The trip is led by two professional guides with experience leading multi‑day adventure travel throughout the Balkans. Local guides join in specific regions to provide deeper cultural and regional insight, especially on routes near traditional villages such as Lukomir.

Is Bosnia and Herzegovina safe to travel in?

Yes. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a welcoming and safe travel destination. Like any destination, awareness and common sense are important, and your guide handles logistics, route planning, and local considerations to ensure a smooth and secure experience on and off the trails.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is required and should cover medical expenses, trip interruption, and evacuation. This protects both you and the group in the event of unexpected changes or emergencies.

What should I pack?

After booking, you will receive a detailed packing list tailored to the season and the specific activities on this trip. In general, you should plan for reliable hiking footwear, weather‑appropriate layers, a small daypack, and any personal hiking gear you prefer.

When should I arrive and depart?

Arrival and departure details, including recommended flight timing and meeting points, will be provided after booking. We suggest arriving at least one day early if possible to allow time to adjust after international travel and reduce stress before your first hike.
